Custom homes and remodeling in Taylor

Taylor has older houses worth keeping and some that are not. We have done both: a whole-home remodel where 75% of the structure was sound and the original steel casement windows went back in, and a tear-down where the foundation had failed past repair.

What we look at first

What we look at first in a Taylor house

How much of the structure is sound, before anyone talks about tile. On the Wallace house the answer was 75%, and the rest was one failed section at the back that we chipped out, supported and poured back. That number is what made the remodel make sense.

The foundation, and its history. On North Lynn Street years of neglect had taken the foundation past repair, so the house came down and a soil analysis and a site-specific foundation design came before a single design decision.

What is original and worth restoring. The Wallace front kept its steel casement windows: removed, reglazed, derusted, repainted and put back. Once they are in a dumpster the house can never have them again.

Questions from Taylor homeowners

Remodel or rebuild?

It depends on what is underneath, so we look there first. On the Wallace house 75% of the structure was sound and we remodeled around it. On North Lynn Street the foundation had failed past repair and the house came down. You get the range after the first visit, and the answer with it.

Is my address in your area?

Call us. We are based in Georgetown and build across Williamson and Travis County. If we are not the right builder for your project or your location, we will tell you who is.

Do you build outside these cities?

Sometimes, when the project is a fit and the drive still lets us be on site the way we want to be. Ask, and you will get a straight answer.
